I decided to draw Doomfist (from Overwatch) a while back, and I wanted to do one of his legendary skins. The "Spirit" skin was my favorite and I figured it would be a good opportunity to challenge myself with the level of detail and incorporating it with a background using the technique I recently developed.

This week, I decided to practice my portrait skills on Lianne La Havas, based on a photograph by Suki Dhanda. Likenesses are a challenge, especially capturing them with my own style, but with time, I'm sure it'll get easier.

If you follow me on social media, you know I'm not too shy when it comes to talking about my mental health. Depression is something I experience more often than I'd like. A more recent episode inspired me to describe the sense of powerlessness I felt when facing an intense, enigmatic force. The Red Wolf was born. Make sure you check out my short story Inferno, which was written as a companion piece to this.

A little over a year after I made the original Seeing Stars (one of my more popular pieces) I decided it was time to revisit the character and setting, creating a new version through my recently preferred medium of digital painting vs vector. This was also a good way to further refine and develop my technique with the added challenge of rendering dyed natural hair. 

I also created a noir version (which I honestly think I like more).

I've recently decided to start exploring landscape paintings. I want to create romantic environments that have the same sense of color as my character pieces, but also including a unique, abstract quality that I can hopefully merge with said detailed character pieces. This piece is directly inspired by the photo “Sunset Boulevard” by Simon Matzinger.

Cover commission for good friend and Detroit-based music producer, J. Snow. His EP, Catharsis was experimental, psychedelic & futurist with concepts rooted in both human spirituality and our connection and love of technology. He wanted to create a cover that properly conveyed the spirit of all of these ideas. The center of the piece is his muse living in a distant future, using technology to directly connect with the ancestral holograms/spirits of past musicians.

A piece featuring my favorite Overwatch character to play, D.Va in her junebug/B.Va skin. I'm considering creating a series of all of my favorite Overwatch characters in this fashion as tarot or trading cards.

I was a huge Gargoyles fan growing up, and I recently decided to re-watch the series. I wanted to make a piece dedicated to the lead human character on the show, Elisa Maza.

This Two-Part commission for ColorOfChange.Org's Future of Equality project explores two potential futures of marginalized communities based on the outcome of environmental and social justice battles (clean water, pollution, transportation, healthcare, police brutality, unemployment, etc.)

The first piece, City of Gold is the optimistic outlook of what the world would be if we win these environmental battles. A bright, Afro-Futuristic city with shining gold buildings and progressive technology. The air is clean, and at the forefront of it all is a natural haired-black woman dressed like royalty, watching the audience with a content smile on her face.

The second piece, City of Loss is a deconstruction of the first piece. It's made to be ugly and depressing, and shows us the world without clean air and water, proper transportation, increased police brutality, the use of technology like drones and machines to keep populations in check, not liberate them. We're presented with an alternate version of the woman from before. She cloaks herself in rags and turns her back to the audience, choosing to take in what her city has become.

These pieces were made entirely in illustrator, with early sketches done in pencil.
